91 Points - Vinous “The 2022 Syrah Siskiyou opens with a burst of exotic spices and white pepper-tinged wild berries. This is racy and sleek with stimulating acidity that elevates its tart red and black fruits. A youthful tension lingers along with grippy tannins as the 2022 tapers off classically dry with a hint of salted licorice that carries on.”

Nate Wall’s Winemaker Notes

Grapes for the 2022 Siskiyou Syrah were harvested on October 14, 2022. Approximately 30% whole cluster fruit was included to accentuate the spicy and dried herbal character and broaden the mid-palate. The wine was handled gently during fermentation with just one punch-down or foot-treading per day and was pressed off after twenty-six days on skins to age in neutral French oak barrels.

We loved how this wine was evolving in the cellar. It was just incredibly balanced and integrated right from the get-go. So, unusually for a Troon Syrah, this wine was bottled after just seven months of aging to capture the freshness of fruit and the nuanced aromatics in their entirety.
